Mulesing, a common practice among
UGG
Boots Australian farmers, involves removing strips of wool-bearing skin from the buttocks of sheep in a bid to reduce a potentially lethal maggot infestation called flystrike.
PETA said in a statement on its
UGG Classic
Tall Boots website that Campbell had opted for faux sheepskin, and the group sent her a box of politically correct chocolates in gratitude.
Campbell, who is due to return to

Boots Australia next week, came in behind winner Miss Mexico and runner-up Miss Jamaica.
Raj, on the other hand, arrived in her home country on Thursday and called on her critics to "move on'' and stop making fun of her answer in the beauty contest.
This developed as fellow Binibini 1979 Miss International Melanie Marquez defended Raj and asked the people to stop the "crab mentality.''
"Kung hindi nila nagustuhan ang sagot ko wala na akong magagawa dun, lalo na kung negative ang connotation nila sa akin. Wala na tayong magagawa run kasi tapos na 'yun. Let's move on, let's see kung ano'ng mangyayari sa future,'' a beaming Raj said, at the press conference at the Gateway Suites, Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City.
Raj's answer to the Miss Universe final interview became a favorite topic when she was asked by a judge about her biggest mistake in life and how she corrected it. She said that she did not have "any major, major'' problem.
At the airport, she appealed to critics to give her some slack. "One question is not enough to judge a person."
Raj also thanked the people, here and abroad, who prayed for her success in the beauty pageant. Her placement in the contest ended the 11-year drought for the country in the most prestigious beauty pageant. (With reports from Robert Requintina, Raymund Antonio and Reuters)
The news surrounding the Miss Universe 2010 finalists haven't stopped from coming even with the conclusion of the pageant last Tuesday. While Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj, who won fourth runner-up in the event, became a trending topic in Twitter because of her major, major blunder in the question and answer portion of the program, Australian beauty queen Jesinta Campbell, who came third in the pageant, has been sent a box of vegan chocolate sheep after deciding not to wear lamb's wool clothing at the event.Campbell, 19, had come under fire from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) for planning to model high-heeled woolly Ugg boots and a lamb's wool shrug during the national-costume portion of the competition in Las Vegas.
